Liberson Scholarships for Fall 2024

Alumnae Dennis Liberson and Tracey Neumann Liberson have generously donated funds to support students in the Human Resources & Labor Relations (HRLR) major. HRLR students will be selected for scholarships of up to $1,000 for study abroad, an unpaid internship with a non-profit organization, or unpaid research with a faculty member from the School of Human Resources & Labor Relations (SHRLR). These criteria will be applied for the Fall 2024 semester.

 

The Following Criteria Will Be Used for Selection:

  • Undergraduate MSU student in good standing and enrolled in the HRLR major
  • Individual student information & qualities including resume, GPA, work and leadership activities as student and other circumstances to take into consideration (first generation, effects of Covid-19, etc.)
  • Demonstrated financial need (work during academic year, student essay)
  • Statement of interest in study abroad, working for a nonprofit or engaging in research

 

Criteria for Internships:

  • Internships can be on-site, virtual (remote), or a combination of on-site/virtual
  • Internship sites can include non-profit organizations such as governmental agencies, private organizations classified as 501(c)(3) organizations, labor unions
  • Student must provide list of expected duties or projects, organization web site address, organization mission statement, name of supervisor

 

Criteria for Research:

  • Research is related to HRLR major
  • Research is supervised by a faculty member in the School of HRLR
  • Other funding to support research is unavailable

 

Preference will be given to eligible students who have not received a Liberson scholarship in the past and have applied for but have not received other funding for their internship or research. A recipient is only eligible to receive this scholarship a maximum of two times.

Enrollment in HRLR/SSC 493 or 494 is encouraged (but not required) if applicant has not previously satisfied their CSS experiential learning requirement.

Students completing either an internship or research for credit are expected to complete at least a minimum of 126 hours of work for summer semesters and 130 hours for fall/spring semesters.

Students applying for funding should complete the application link below no later than September 26, 2024 to be eligible to receive funding for fall 2024. The School of HRLR will only be accepting applications for fall 2024 at this time.

Scholarship recipients will be asked to write a thank you letter to the Libersons before disbursement of the first $500 in the middle of the fall 2024 term. A second $500 payment will be disbursed towards the conclusion of the fall 2024 term.
