Resume and Job Search Strategies

The challenge of life, I have found, is to build a resume that doesn't simply tell a story about what you want to be, but it's a story about who you want to be. - Oprah Winfrey

REGISTRATION: $50

DESCRIPTION

If you have thought about changing jobs or are actively looking now, this two-hour virtual program will help you save time and put your best foot forward during the job search.

Googling "How to write a resume" returns more results than any one person can manage, and it seems like the advice is always changing. Are "free" online resume builders really free? Should your resume have color and be creative, or is a traditional approach better? How long should your resume be? What if you don't have a lot of work experience or education?

A professional resume that gets results is only half the challenge - then it's time to choose the right online job search tools to help connect you with your next opportunity.

Let MSU's School of HRLR help you break through the clutter.

In this virtual workshop, you will learn proven strategies to:

  • Design a resume that gets a response from hiring managers
  • Tailor your resume for the position you want
  • Increase the odds that you will make it past electronic applicant tracking systems
  • Decide which job search websites are right for you
  • Create a profile on your chosen job search site
  • Apply for jobs and follow up with potential employers

Program includes resume templates, tools, and resources for creating online job searches.
