On behalf of Michigan State University (MSU) AgeAlive, Dr. Peter Berg has been selected for a 2026 MSU AgeAlive Research in Aging Award. This award recognizes the positive impact he has had on supporting individuals and communities as we age. Awardees will be recognized during the MSU AgeAlive Research Forum, "Advancing Mobility Across Settings As We Age," on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the MSU Federal Credit Union Headquarters.

Peter has been conducting research on the aging workforce for many years. While most research on aging focuses on the individual and their interests, Peter examines the issue of workforce aging from the perspective of organizations and how they are responding to workforce aging. The experience of older workers depends a great deal on the environment created by organizational decisions. Peter's research helps us better understand the choices of organizations that affect older workers.

In addition to his journal articles, Peter published a book last year entitled "Organizations and Workforce Aging: Stakeholders, Interests, and Human Capital Management," Edward Elgar Publishing. He was also coauthor and committee member to the 2022 Consensus Study Report of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, entitled "Understanding the Aging Workforce: Defining a Research Agenda." Peter is also currently serving as guest editor on a special issue of ILR Review entitled, "Organizational Perspectives on an Aging Workforce."
