The School of Human Resources and Labor Relations celebrates the generosity and impact of the Ryan, Garrett & Pamela J. Martin Sauter Endowed Scholarship, which supports outstanding students pursuing degrees in Human Resources and Labor Relations at Michigan State University.

This year's recipients, Peter G. and Caitlyn D., embody the academic excellence, leadership, and dedication that the scholarship was created to encourage. The award alternates annually between undergraduate students majoring in HRLR who are members of the Honors College and graduate students pursuing an advanced degree in HRLR.

For Peter, the award represents more than financial assistance.

"This scholarship means much more to me than financial support. It represents the recognition and encouragement that I have received from MSU and its alumni on my academic journey," he shared. "That encouragement helps endow me with the confidence required to continue towards my future goals, and for that, I am extremely grateful."

Caitlyn echoed the scholarship's transformative impact:

"Receiving this scholarship means a lot to me! I typically work throughout the school year, and I haven't been able to recently because I am balancing internship recruiting season on top of the shared program schedule, and I have felt overwhelmed," she said. "After receiving this scholarship, I no longer have to worry about not working as many hours to save money for graduate school, and I can keep prioritizing my academics!"

Scholarship donor Pam Sauter shared her family's deep connection to MSU and their commitment to helping future Spartans achieve their goals.

"My sons, Ryan and Garrett, and I, as well as our extended family, are so proud of our MSU heritage, experiences, and professional outcomes," said Sauter. "We love supporting other MSU students on their personal and professional journey."

The School of Human Resources and Labor Relations extends heartfelt gratitude to the Sauter family for their continued support and investment in the next generation of HRLR professionals. Their generosity ensures that students can focus on learning, leadership, and making a positive impact in the world of work.
