MSU SHRM Student Chapter Receives Merit Award from SHRM
SHRM (the Society for Human Resource Management), the trusted authority on all things work, workers, and the workplace, awarded a 2024-2025 Outstanding Chapter Award designation to Michigan State University's SHRM student chapter for providing superior growth and development opportunities to its student members.
The SHRM Student Chapter Merit Award program encourages the development of more effective student chapters and distinguishes outstanding activities and projects. Chapters are recognized based on operations, chapter programming and professional development of members, support of the human resources profession, and SHRM engagement.
"The members of our SHRM student chapters embody the future of HR leadership, making it essential to recognize the pivotal role they play in SHRM's ongoing success," said Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP, SHRM president and CEO. "The dedication and achievements of the MSU SHRM student chapter demonstrate that the profession's future is in capable and inspired hands. I commend their accomplishments and their ability to drive innovative programming, professional development, and a growing interest in HR as we adapt to the evolving dynamics of the workplace."
SHRM student chapters have the opportunity to earn an award based on the number of activities they complete during the merit award cycle, the most recent one of which lasted from May 1, 2024, to April 30, 2025.
"The MSU SHRM student chapter has had an exciting year of growth and recognition. This past February, we hosted our annual conference, Work Redefined: Shaping the Future with Innovation and Talent, bringing together students and professionals to explore emerging trends in HR. We're already planning next year's conference, Unlocking Human Potential: The New Era of Work, happening February 5-6, 2026, in East Lansing, Michigan. As we prepare for the upcoming recruitment season at MSU, we're focused on expanding outreach, connecting with future members, and continuing to provide high-impact programming and professional development opportunities. Students interested in joining MSU SHRM can visit our website, where a live application form is available to get involved right away. In addition, we encourage everyone to follow us on Instagram [@msushrm] for updates!"
