Dr. Jason Huang Appointed Director of Michigan State's School of Human Resources & Labor Relations

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Jason Huang, PhD, to the role of Director of the School of Human Resources and Labor Relations (SHRLR). Dr. Huang assumes the Director role in August 2024 after serving as Associate Director for Graduate Programs for the past four years and as a faculty member in the School since 2015.

Dr. Huang received his PhD in Organizational Psychology from Michigan State University and is a Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP). His research addresses two broad content areas: (a) personality and adaptability at work – how stable traits and dynamic processes enable individuals to adapt to various work situations; (b) training and transfer – what factors facilitate individuals' skill acquisition and subsequent applications. He also conducts methodological research on insufficient effort responding. Dr. Huang has published articles in leading scholarly journals such as Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, Personnel Psychology, Psychological Bulletin, and Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. His research has been funded by the National Science Foundation and SHRM Foundation. Dr. Huang serves on the Editorial Boards of Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, Journal of Business and Psychology, and Journal of Vocational Behavior.

Since joining the School of Human Resources and Labor Relations in 2015, Professor Huang has taught graduate courses in quantitative methods for HR, HR analytics, and training and development as well as an undergraduate course on research methods and analysis. As Associate Director for Graduate Programs, he played a vital role in sustaining the School's world-class Master of Human Resources & Labor Relations program while contributing to the development of a vibrant and growing PhD program.

As Director, Dr. Huang is excited to collaborate with the SHRLR faculty, Advisory Board members, alumni, staff, students, and College of Social Science leadership to help build upon SHRLR's strengths and create new opportunities for success for all its stakeholders.
