Welcome to Michigan State University's School of Human Resources & Labor Relations, home of one of the world's leading master's degrees in human resources and labor relations. This portal to our School takes you on a virtual tour that describes our graduate curricula and student activities, our lifelong professional education and development programming, our faculty and research, and our alumni relations.
This virtual tour, however, cannot capture the richness and vibrancy of our School or our aspirations. So let me take you behind what you will see to tell you more about who we are and what we offer to our students and our profession.
First, our faculty and alumni share a vision and commitment to offering the leading professional education in human resources and labor relations in the world. Playing a central role in achieving our broader goals and specific objectives is our Advisory Board, comprised of highly distinguished alumni and friends (Advisory Board). Working closely with our Advisory Board and through six standing committees, we continuously evaluate and refine our curricula, programming, and student support activities.
Also, our Alumni Relations Board (Alumni Relations Board) and extensive network of 2500 alumni located around the globe provide unparalleled opportunities for student mentoring, internships, and placement. Indeed, even under the worst economic conditions in decades, over 95% of both our domestic and international students were placed in excellent positions upon graduation this last year and 100% of our first year students obtained summer internships. This superlative record attests to the value of our master's degree in the marketplace and the exceptional loyalty of our alumni to helping our students and graduates launch their careers.
Second, our School's success is anchored in a strong culture of community and teamwork among and across our students, faculty, staff, and alumni. It is this spirit of working together that underpins all that we do. It is this spirit and our sense of purpose that drives our commitment to offering the best experiences for our students in and out of the classroom, to engaging our outstanding alumni in the life of our school, and to providing lifelong education and development to our profession and to the broader community we serve.
We hope you will consider taking advantage of what we can offer you or your organization and be part of our growing community of outstanding human resource and labor relations professionals.
