Student Driven Culture
The School of Human Resources & Labor Relations has a long tradition of student involvement which continues to foster leadership and a collaborative culture among the students and faculty. The three organizations SHRLR students are elected for include: the Graduate Student Association, the award-winning student chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management, and the MSU chapter of Labor and Employment Relations Association.
Students also lead and serve on various special project teams focused on student orientation, mentoring, recruitment, diversity, communication and classroom technology.
Promoting engagement and leadership, student leaders are recognized through our annual "Student Leadership Awards" ceremony which is funded by corporate gifts and alumni endowments.
The 2010-2011 classroom restoration project is an extraordinary example of SHRLR's student engagement. The student-led initiative completely renovated the East Lansing classroom from top to bottom. Below are pictures that show the transformation:
